space44American Astronaut Scott Kelly has returned from a record 340-days in space.  NASA is using the mission to study the effects of space travel on the human body by comparing Scott Kelly to his younger twin brother and fellow astronaut Mark Kelly.

Kelly, a former Space Shuttle Astronaut, now hold the record for consecutive days and total days (540) in space for an American. Cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov holds the record for most consecutive days in space (437 days) and Cosmonaut Gennady Padalka holds the record for total days (879 days)
