Last month marked the passing of a faithful reader and friend, Dusi Mura, at the age of 95. Dusi was a world renowned pianist who had survived Hitler and Stalin at no small cost – the death of her husband, separated from her daughter for many years after engineering her escape from Romania and being the target of political persecution. Yet Dusi celebrated her survival by living a life full of joy, music and determination and will be missed.
Whether you knew Dusi or not, I encourage you to visit her memorial site and read the moving eulogy by her daughter, which reminds us of a time when to think was an act of courage and the great price people pay for freedom. Above all, it offers the invaluable lesson of a life well lived.
